Camp America sits 1-1/2 miles north of Interstate 90 (Exit 364) on US Highway 81 just south of Salem, SD. We cater to visitors who are travelling to and from our state's many great locations.

With no railroads or airports for miles, you will enjoy your stay in our rural setting. We boast clean facilities, quiet and shady sites, and reasonable rates. Our location is central to the Corn Palace in Mitchell, Falls Park in Sioux Falls, and Laura Ingalls Wilder's home in DeSmet.

Our season extends from May 1st to November 1st giving you ample time to come stay with us. The population of the park varies from night to night, with most visitors staying one or two nights. Families can enjoy our pool, playground, and play miniature golf. (There is a nominal fee for miniature golf.)

  • The camp store stocks essential camping supplies, firewood, limited groceries, used books, an assortment of antiques, gifts and souvenirs.
  • The laundry and restroom facilities are open 24 hours a day for your convenience.
  • The showers are coin operated, costing 25 cents for about 6 minutes of hot water.
Our daily rates are based on a family of four.
